Words from Sister Eevanna Brown in South Carolina Columbia Mission

"This week was incredible and ended on a magnificent note.  We had this sacred privilege of having Elder Bednar speak to our mission.  It was the first tine I had been with all the missionaries in the SCCM all at one time.  The South Carolina stake presidents were there as well.   It was from 6-9 PM of pure Elder Bednar.  The most beautiful thing was that he didn't get up and speak for 3 hours.  It was question and answer for 3 hours, not questions like 'Where is Kolob?'; they were all centered on this work, this area, this time.  He basically taught us how to teach our investigators through his example.  Someone would ask him a question and he would then usually respond, 'May I ask you a question?' and that allowed us to be agents and act and learn from the Holy Ghost.  The basic thing that we as missionaries had learned through the Holy Ghost, with Elder Bednar, just being the guider, was to Jump Out of the Boat.  He related the story of Peter, that he had the faith to jump out of the boat, to leave behind the script, to let his gaze be completely focused on the Savior and the Holy Ghost to be his guide.  I wish I could tell all that I learned now, but I will share snippets each week.  My challenge to you,  and myself, is not to worry about the script, the bells and whistles, the fancy handouts, but to simply let others feel the Holy Ghost that will cause them to be agents to act for themselves.  Elder Bednar could have just talked for 3 hours (which still would have been great), but he allowed us to act, he taught us how to fish, not just handing us one fish for the night."
