Words from Sister Kortlynn Herring in Japan

"Hey! So this week was awesome! So many miracles. It's so fun,
lately I have been able to read my journal of what I was doing a
year ago, and I love seeing that I have changed, at least my attitude.
For example, I was reading yesterday's entry and before I read it, I
was feeling super happy and just content. I really feel like I'm
where I'm supposed to be and I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. I
just felt good, and then I read the entry, and a year ago I was super
unconfident and I wrote about how I wanted to change and set goals
to become a better missionary and I wrote about change and how if I
start now, I will be better off later, and I sat there and just felt
this overwhelming sense of just contentment. I'm still not perfect
and I can't wait to continue getting better and learning, but looking
back to where I was a year ago and how I feel now, and how I Dendo
now, it just a blessing. I have progressed, even though it was just a
little. Anywho, that's some of the feelings I have had.

This week was awesome! From teaching Yoshida, Arisa, Maysun, and
Meirin to teaching children's eikaiwa, everything just felt good. We
also had one of the coolest miracles of my mission!

So, it started last week when that family, the kawamuras came to
church. Their less active son, his new nonmember wife and their 4
kids. Well, from church she said she wanted to learn, and so we set
up some appointments. We already go to their grandmas house once a
week to teach their son, ryuya who is a recent convert, so Arisa, the
nonmember mom participated in the lesson, actually, the whole family
did. We taught about prayer and Heavenly Father. Afterwards I talked
to her a bit more and we scheduled another lesson that week with her.
So we went back and focused on Christ and Heavenly Father and the
gospel of Jesus Christ. After explaining to her the gospel of Christ
(faith, repentance, baptism, Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end) we
invited her to be baptized on nov. 2, my last Sunday in Japan, and she
said yes! The lesson was so spiritual and having her daughter there,
who is a little less active herself, testify, and grandma, and her RM
brother in law, it was amazing! Then she came to church, and cried
through most of sacrament meeting, and we found out some stuff about
her, and she really wants an eternal family and wants to do her best
so she can be with them in the celestial kingdom. It was so many
super spiritual awesome experiences. She is so prepared, a 24 year
old with lots of hard things in her life, meets this man, who is less
active and they decide to start a better life together and they begin
by going back to church. It's amazing! And having her family there
supporting her. The member help is amazing! I'm so blessed to be a
part of it, and be here to help Arisa. Please keep her in your
thoughts and prayers!

Then we had another awesome experience with a PI who wasn't super
interested, Most she just likes learning English, but we got her to come
to an activity with the young adults of our Ward, and two sisters
fellow shipped like no other and merin, by the end of the night, wanted
to know why they decided to become Christian, and now we have an
appointment with those two sisters and merin! So excited! Members
make such a huge difference! I love this work, and I love this Ward!
So blessed to be here for another 6 weeks! I love you all! Thanks
for everything you do! I love hearing about your missionary
experiences! Keep it up! I love you!!
